A Step Back In Time

So, finally back in my Blog...taken a while!
I am back doing freelance graphic design, typing and other miscellaneous bits and pieces.  I am also working on Riley's 6th birthday party.
Much to my joy she has chosen to have a Dinosaur party.  For those of you who don't know, I wanted to be a palaeontologist as a kid, and that passion has never died.  So, this is chance for me to have some fun as well.
I am busy working on a dinosaur skull.  I have completed the wire frame and covered the frame with a layer of bubble wrap to give myself a surface to work on.  Next comes papier mache and clay.

I am having so much fun with this, but have a long way to go...so, watch this spot for more photos.
I also made a little "fossil" trilobite which are quite common fossils.

I have plans to make a baby dinosaur in an egg, some papier mache dino eggs in a nest, and much more.
So, now that it is weekend I am hoping to get a bit more done.  Any progress will be added as it happens.

A Very Overdue Post

I have been very bad at posting over the last few weeks.
For those who don't know, my husband and I are giving our marriage a other try after more than a year of separation.  As a result I am packing and carting loads of STUFF back to my other house, which has led to my not being online much and I have no time for sewing and being creative.  I am very excited though as we are setting up a wonderful studio work space for me in the garage. This will allow me my own creative space...it's very exciting.
So, for the next few weeks I am packing, cleaning, sorting and moving.  I will do my best to post as soon as I can, as well as upload some creations I made before Christmas.

Watch this space....

Still Boiling and Some Custom Orders

Well, it's still as hot as Hades here in Cape Town, but at least today we have a wind, which does help to a degree.  I have been collecting lots of new ideas for production next year and am quite excited.  I will start in the New Year once the chaos that is Christmas has passed.  With both girls at school full-time next year I have a lot more time to spend developing and making new stock.  I am also looking at getting an Etsy.com shop going, so watch this space for updates.

Over the last two days I have been working on some custom Christmas Decorations.
I had a wonderful order from a woman for a Batman Christmas decoration and two snowmen - one pink and one blue - for her children who always have to get the same thing or they argue...

I have then tried a few new ones for Christmas gifts.  Minnie Mouse, Pooh Bear and two little hedgehogs that match the logo for my youngest daughter's school.  I made them for her teachers.

Kirstenbosch Market et al...

On Sunday the 16th of December, I took Fantasia to the Kirstenbosch Market.  It was a scorcher of a day and not very well attended, but we still managed to make a few sales.

Our beautiful Zebra Mobile - one of my personal favourites - found a new home.  Beautifully hand made by my mother, Anne.  Each zebra was hand stitched and added to the mobile with carefully selected beads.

TEWIT....HOOOO

Owls seem to be very popular at the moment, so I decided to tap into that by making some fun felt owl decorations for the Christmas tree and tagged owl plushies for little tots.  My two year old absolutely loves the tagged owls and I have had to pry them away from her more than once.  These, along with our other items, will be available for sale at the Kirstenbosch Market on Sunday.
